Navigating Uncertainty: Understanding Policy, Funding, and the Value of Extension

In times of funding uncertainty, there’s a unique opportunity to deepen our understanding of the processes that shape policy and to better communicate the value of Extension to decision makers.

Join Extension professionals from across the country for an insightful session exploring the latest developments and mechanisms influencing federal funding and policy decisions.

This session—coordinated by Dr. Doug Steele, Vice President for Food, Agriculture, and Natural Resources at the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU)—will highlight how collaboration and shared knowledge make us stronger during times of change.  Dr. Steele will be joined by Christina Laridaen of Lewis Burke Associates, a government relations firm that represents Extension in Washington D.C.

Hear directly from those closest to the current and future landscape of Extension funding. Together, we'll explore what actions we can take now—and in the future—to showcase the vital role Cooperative Extension and the Land-grant System play in strengthening our communities.

Let’s learn, connect, and ed-vocate—together.

Land Acknowledgement

Cornell University is located on the traditional homelands of the Gayogo̱hó꞉nǫ' (the Cayuga Nation). The Gayogo̱hó꞉nǫ' are members of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, an alliance of six sovereign Nations with a historic and contemporary presence on this land. The Confederacy precedes the establishment of Cornell University, New York state, and the United States of America. We acknowledge the painful history of Gayogo̱hó꞉nǫ' dispossession, and honor the ongoing connection of Gayogo̱hó꞉nǫ' people, past and present, to these lands and waters.

This land acknowledgment has been reviewed and approved by the traditional Gayogo̱hó꞉nǫ' leadership. Learn more
