The Cornell Lab of Ornithology seeks four partners who are interested in using and evaluating a new eBird and citizen-science curriculum for out-of-school audiences.

About the Curriculum:

The eBird Explorers: Youth Action for Birds curriculum has been developed in partnership with 4-H and the New York State Network for Youth Success. It connects youth ages 8-15 to their local habitats through birds and citizen science. Youth will build their science skills, learn how to identify birds, and participate in the eBird citizen-science project through hands-on activities and nature exploration. The curriculum consists of 10 hour-long lessons and a final project that may take additional time, depending on what project the youth and program leaders decide. You will need access to smart devices or computers and screens/projectors for the best experience leading the curriculum.

About the Evaluation:

The purpose of this evaluation is to assess the curriculum's affect on youths' attitudes towards science and nature. Participants will be asked to complete the curriculum with youth and administer pre- and post-surveys by December 2023, with a preference for candidates able to run the program and evaluation by September 2023.
