On October 1 we launched the National 4-H fall AI challenge – the 4-H AI in Agriculture Challenge as part of our Google AI grant.
This fall's prompt is:
“How can AI help solve problems in agriculture?”
From improving crop yields and reducing food waste to supporting sustainability and innovation, the possibilities are endless, and we want to hear YOUR ideas!
The challenge opens October 1 and closes November 15, 2025.
Open to youth innovators nationwide, this challenge combines STEM creativity, real-world problem solving, and the future of agriculture. Together, let’s imagine how artificial intelligence can grow a brighter future for agriculture.
The portal for entries will be open from October 1 – November 15. You can resubmit projects from the spring, as long as you revise it and describe the changes or enhancements you made.
Winners will be announced during Computer Science week, the second week of December. Two Categories of 13-15 year olds and 16-18 year olds will be used.
Awards in each category for the top winners will be
First $500
Second $400
Third $300
Attached are social media and flyers you can use to promote. Also if you do this with your teen leaders as a project, there is a worksheet to help them brainstorm ideas.
Our goal with the Spring and Fall AI challenges are to help youth prepare for a larger national AI challenge – the Presidential AI Challenge. https://www.ai.gov/initiatives/presidential-challenge
These are due January 20, 2026. Prizes for this competition will be $10,000 for the top winners.

We will be hosting a National 4-H webinar in mid-November to answer questions and support 4-H youth who want to participate.
We hope to see your 4-H youth participate and their awesome ideas.
