YNOE Professional Development Opportunity




The Youth Nature & Outdoor Environment (YNOE) PWT is excited to share registration is open for the 2024 Professional Development taking place at the Cornell Biological Field Station at Shackelton Point in Bridgeport, NY on June 20th, 2024! To continue on with the virtual series theme this year of insects, we will be meeting with field staff, interns, and Cornell staff learning about insects and macroinvertebrates. Below is the schedule of events for the day, as well as the registration link. We hope you’re able to join us again this year!

 


9:30 -  Arrival & check-in.

9:45 - Brief ice breaker. Intro to facility by staff.

10:00 – 10:45 - Jim and Zoe (Shackelton Point staff) lead station tour and give research updates.

10:45 to 11 - Break.

11:00- 11:30 - Meet with interns from Shackelton Point.

11:30 - Small group sharing (programs, ideas, planning, etc.) – meet in groups of 4-6.

12:00 – Lunch. (We will provide lunch, but please feel free to bring your own if you prefer.)

1:00 – Betsy Lamb (from Cornell IPM): insect ID, info and fun with Kahoot!

2:00 – 3:15/3:30 - Water Safari/pond ecology at shoreline with Celeste Carmichael. Seine net, dip nets, ID charts, pond study data sheet. 

3:30 – Wrap up activity, end of day thoughts/ideas/etc.
