Social Media Literacy Resources study invitation
The Social Media TestDrive team have a small qualitative study going on now for which they are recruiting educators and parents/guardians for 30-45 minute interviews. The study involves questions about where parents/guardians get information about youth social media use and resources for social media literacy. They then have some questions to generate ideas about resources that would be useful to parents/guardians and youth-serving professionals who are considering using Social Media TestDrive (SMTD). SMTD is an online educational program designed to teach middle school-aged youth about using social media in ways that are safe, prosocial, and fun through an experiential learning platform. It’s used in many schools across the country and they want to see if it’s something more parents/guardians want to us directly with their child(ren).
The Social Media TestDrive team is looking to develop some videos, guides, or other resources that might be helpful specifically for parents/guardians who are interested in using SMTD. Hearing from parents/guardians directly will help us shape these materials in ways that are most useful.
Each participant will receive a $30 Amazon gift card as a thank-you for their time and contributions.
Please share this invitation with colleagues and caregivers you know who may be interested in participating in an interview. Share directly and not through social media channels.
To express interest, please review the study consent form, and if interested, sign and share your contact information through a short online form. The study team will then reach out to finalize the time for the interview. You can contact Amanda Purington Drake (ald17@cornell.edu) for more information.
