HPAI FAQs Updates

nys4h4

The FAQ has been updated. Changes include the addition of brief, general information regarding the human positive case found at the end of April as well as an update of case numbers in NYS and the US. The good news is that we are about 5 weeks out from our last positive in a commercial or backyard flock, but we have seen positives in wild birds in NYS increase in number and distribution over the last month. That indicates to us that the disease is still circulating in the environment.

We will hear about if there will be changes to the Governor’s two live poultry bans in a couple of weeks, and we’ll update everyone once we know more.

Land Acknowledgement

Cornell University is located on the traditional homelands of the Gayogo̱hó꞉nǫ' (the Cayuga Nation). The Gayogo̱hó꞉nǫ' are members of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, an alliance of six sovereign Nations with a historic and contemporary presence on this land. The Confederacy precedes the establishment of Cornell University, New York state, and the United States of America. We acknowledge the painful history of Gayogo̱hó꞉nǫ' dispossession, and honor the ongoing connection of Gayogo̱hó꞉nǫ' people, past and present, to these lands and waters.

This land acknowledgment has been reviewed and approved by the traditional Gayogo̱hó꞉nǫ' leadership. Learn more
