Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Prof. Dev. Cohort 4 Launching

nys4h4

Dear 4-H Colleagues,

We are pleased to share that we are ready to launch a fourth cohort of the 4-H Diversity, Equity and Inclusion professional development cohort. The NYS 4-H Office, in collaboration with Eduardo González, Jr. have offered three similar cohorts, starting in 2015, that have reached nearly 50 county and campus 4-H staff. We are excited to launch cohort four as a CCE system-wide opportunity, open to staff at all levels of CCE. The CCE Justice Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Cohort is an opportunity to engage with colleagues, build relationships, and work collaboratively at the personal and professional level to achieve CCE system goals related to anti-racism and inclusion. With this announcement we have officially opened the recruitment for cohort four. We are looking for a cohort of 20-30 people representing the diversity of CCE in all its forms to join us on a 10-month professional development opportunity anchored by three on campus retreats (May and September 2023, and February 2024) providing the foundation and core content. Our teaching and leadership team includes Andy Turner, Jamila Walida Simon, and Alexa Maille from the State 4-H Team; Ashley Helmholdt, Cornell Garden Based Learning; and Eduardo Gonzalez, Jr., CCE Assistant Director for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Please share with staff in your Association who might be interested in this unique professional development opportunity! Here is the link for interested individuals to respond and express their interest in the program!

Please direct any questions to Jamila Walida Simon – Jws62@cornell.edu

Land Acknowledgement

Cornell University is located on the traditional homelands of the Gayogo̱hó꞉nǫ' (the Cayuga Nation). The Gayogo̱hó꞉nǫ' are members of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, an alliance of six sovereign Nations with a historic and contemporary presence on this land. The Confederacy precedes the establishment of Cornell University, New York state, and the United States of America. We acknowledge the painful history of Gayogo̱hó꞉nǫ' dispossession, and honor the ongoing connection of Gayogo̱hó꞉nǫ' people, past and present, to these lands and waters.

This land acknowledgment has been reviewed and approved by the traditional Gayogo̱hó꞉nǫ' leadership. Learn more
