Developing Future Equine Professionals: 4-H Equine Ambassadors Visit Cornell University

ITHACA, N.Y. — The New York State 4-H Horse Program recently hosted the Equine Ambassadors (EA) at Cornell University, providing selected high school youth with an advanced, hands-on introduction to equine veterinary medicine, behavior, and career pathways in the agricultural and equine industries.

A competitive, merit-based leadership initiative, the Equine Ambassadors Program brings together teens from across New York State and New England. Thanks to the generous support of The Agriculture and New York State Horse Breeding Development Fund, all Ambassadors participate in the yearlong program at no cost to families, including meals, transportation, lodging, and experiential learning opportunities.

Land Acknowledgement

Cornell University is located on the traditional homelands of the Gayogo̱hó꞉nǫ' (the Cayuga Nation). The Gayogo̱hó꞉nǫ' are members of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, an alliance of six sovereign Nations with a historic and contemporary presence on this land. The Confederacy precedes the establishment of Cornell University, New York state, and the United States of America. We acknowledge the painful history of Gayogo̱hó꞉nǫ' dispossession, and honor the ongoing connection of Gayogo̱hó꞉nǫ' people, past and present, to these lands and waters.

This land acknowledgment has been reviewed and approved by the traditional Gayogo̱hó꞉nǫ' leadership. Learn more
