Outdoors Adventures Weekend - Winterfest

Friday 2/16/24 7:00 PM – Sunday 2/18/24 12:00 PM

Amboy 4-H Environmental Education Center

748 NY 183 Williamstown, NY 13493

The Cornell Youth in Nature and Outdoor Education Program Work Team is looking forward to another fun year at Outdoor Adventures – Winterfest. This weekend long event will include snowshoeing, cross country skiing, outdoor games, environmental education programs, STEM projects, and more. There is very limited time spent inside; we are outside as much as possible! The event will end with a friendly Winter Olympic competition. This event is being held at Amboy 4-H Environmental Education Center in eastern Oswego County from 7:00 p.m. Friday, February 16th to 12:00 p.m. Sunday, February 18th, 2023. The facility is in the foothills of the Tug Hill and is famous for its snow, so the weekend will be spent mostly outdoors enjoying the snow and the woodlands.

4-H teens with proper gear may have the opportunity to sleep outside in the lean-to. Families can choose to bring a tent or RV campers with permission from Linda Brosch, 4-H Team Coordinator of Oswego County. The dormitory will sleep everyone who wants a warmer option. The dormitory is a bunkhouse with 2 rooms; a men’s and a women's room, respectively. Each side has bunk beds for youth and chaperones to sleep on. It is heated by wood stoves and has fully functioning bathrooms.

Registration for this event is limited to 50 people. Snowshoes will be loaned out for this event, as well as a limited number of cross country skis and shoes of varying sizes. The cost to attend Outdoor Adventures Weekend is $40 per 4-Her – there is no fee for chaperones. 4-Hers must provide their own chaperone. Chaperones need to be pre-approved with a background check from their local 4-H program.

Registration is public so families can register themselves at any time. Please make sure to share this information with your 4-H families. Registration can be found at: https://reg.cce.cornell.edu/OutdoorsAdventWinterfest24_235 or by scanning the QR code on the flier.

Outdoor Adventures Weekend is a must for outdoor enthusiasts. We are looking forward to hosting our 3rd annual statewide event and meeting youth from all over NYS!
