New staff especially, are encouraged to sign up for the Northeast Region's Clover Academy. This professional development opportunity helps to provide the foundations of 4-H programs for new staff but we welcome all staff to join in this quarterly experience when topics are valuable for your program. This month will highlight NYS 4-H Programs, Educators and Youth. We hope you'll share your support!
Engaging with the 4-H Thriving Model of Positive Youth Development
June 9, 9 – 11:30 a.m.
Join us for a timely, engaging, and interactive 4-H Clover Academy focused on the 4-H Thriving Model of Positive Youth Development! The Thriving Model is the theory of change for PYD in 4-H and helps us create program settings that foster developmental relationships, express care, challenge growth and share power with youth. The session will include the following components:
Overview of previous core 4-H learning theories and change models, and how the Thrive Model represents an evolution in our understanding and application of PYD theories and practices but is also inclusive of previous work.
Take a deeper dive into the core of the theory, the importance of the Developmental Context (Sparks, Belonging, Relationships and Engagement) and encouraging participants to reflect on how their work reflects these principles. We will also create space to identify the challenges and opportunities for growth that you may be experiencing while applying the model to 4-H programming in your state.
Engage with our Northeast Thrive Model Champions to help the group explore these concepts, ask questions, and share timely feedback from direct experiences.
Learn where the Thrive work is heading in the coming months in your state, in the Northeast, and nationally and how you can stay connected to this exciting work!
Are you interested in learning more about the Thrive Model in a supportive and reflective space with your colleagues from all over the Northeast? Please join us for the June 9th 4‑H Clover Academy and you will be on your way to thinking about the model in new ways, learning from your colleagues, and taking away resources and information that you can apply in your local 4-H program!
Please register by June 6. Connection details will be shared the week of the event. If you have questions, please email Kelly Campbell.
