“Brains Connections: How Relationships Shape Youth Development and Mental Health”
Event Description:
Dr. Leehyun Yoon of the University of Texas at Dallas is investigating how young people manage mental health conditions and maintain a positive sense of self throughout development. She will share research showing how social relationships, support systems, and identity development interact with the developing brain to shape mental health outcomes over time. For 4-H educators and volunteers, this lecture provides a framework for understanding how social behavior changes across development and how mental health challenges such as depression can influence learning, motivation, and well-being.
