Background/DMV Check

The NYS 4-H team is committed to creating safe, high quality learning experiences for all youth. NYS 4-H events are collaborative events between Cornell University & Cornell Cooperative Extension thus Event Leaders are volunteers for both organizations. County Association, Cornell Cooperative Extension, and Cornell University Policy & Procedures come together to proactively develop a safe environment for staff, partners, chaperones, and youth to engage in NYS 4-H Events. 

Cornell University Risk Management conducts a Criminal Background check and sex offender search.

Volunteers & CCE Staff

Check the email address you gave on the your program registration for a message from Ideal-Logic with the background check directions and waivers to sign. 

Cornell Employees

Submit the date of your last HR background check to clivecchi@cornell.edu.

Required Training

All Event Leaders complete required training and understand reporting process.
Sexual Abuse Awareness Training

Look for an invitation email from Abuse Prevention Systems. That email will provide directions to set up a profile in the Abuse Prevention System and access the required training course. This training should take about an hour to complete.

Reporting

Review and understand Cornell University's Reporting Requirements. A communication process and contact information specific to each event will also be shared.
